FlexDRV

FlexDRV is a haptic feedback driver designed as part of the Lipomi Research Group at UC San Diego, intended for implementation alongside biomedical wearable devices. The device leverages 4 LRA or ERM vibration motors to deliver localized, high-resolution feedback signals tailored for ease of differentiation by users. FlexDRV communicates data wirelessly to a computer over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), allowing for feedback delivery, data acquisition, and data processing without disrupting the user.

My impact

  • Designed the end-to-end system architecture, spanning motor drivers, power management, and BLE communication

  • Implemented low-latency wireless control for real-time feedback and telemetry without disrupting the wearer

  • Engineered the system around wearable constraints: small form factor, safety, and reliability

  • Delivered a reusable hardware platform now supporting ongoing wearable research
